2008 BMW of Lincoln Komen drive for the cure
BMW of Lincoln hosted the Susan G. Komen Drive for the Cure on Monday July 7th. A fleet of 27 cars crosses the US stopping at various BMW Centers along the way. The event allows people to come drive new BMW's and for every mile they drive, BMW donates $1 to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research Fund. BMW has donated over $11 million of the past 11 years. Part of the event involves volunteers shuttling cars between dealerships. I, along with 7 other fellow club members, took the day Tuesday to drive the cars down to Kansas City for the next event. There was a variety of new 2008 BMW models to choose from for the drive. The new M3, X6, X5, X3, 135, 7, 6, 5 and 3 series as well as an Alpina B7. There were convertible versions of many of the models that offered such an option. All the vehicles were White with Black leather interior and all featured the Pink and Grey lettering of the Ultimate Drive. I must say, driving in a caravan of 27 white BMW's sure garnered some attention as we wound thru Lincoln, made our way down Hwy 2 and then down I-29 to Kansas City. The two rest stops along the way garnered many questions and some pictures from fellow travelers. In all, BMW of Lincoln and the drivers from Monday and Tuesday earned the Foundation over $9k. The best part for me, other than taking a day off to drive that awesome Alpina B7, was spending the day with some really great people and fellow members.
